Jena, May 31st, 2007 – biolitec AG has continued its strong market growth as one of the leading suppliers of medical, minimal invasive laser systems and fiber optics as well as photodynamic treatment methods in aesthetics.
biolitec AG, Jena, listed in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt stock exchange (ISIN DE0005213409) increased its total revenues to Euro 26.4 million during the first nine months of the business year 2006/2007 (previous year: Euro 19.5 million). EBIT increased by 321 % to Euro 3.7 million (previous year: Euro 0.9 million), the operating income from Euro 1.1 million to Euro 3.8 million. Gross profit amounted to Euro 18.2 million (previous year: Euro 13.1 million). Net income amounted to Euro 3.2 million (previous year: Euro 0.9 million) although the expenditures for research and development continued to be on a high level with 18% of revenue (e.g. for clinical studies on cellulite and cancer therapy).
In the first nine months the laser business increased by 56%, the sales of disposables increased by 33%. According to the regional segmentation North American revenues increased by 70 % in the first nine months. Despite the dollar slump North American revenues (mainly in the US) even increased by 83 % in the third quarter.
The current growth is mainly driven by sales of disposables, especially in the fields of aesthetics and urology treatments as well as by increased sales of installed laser bases (especially for the ELVeS™ vein treatment and for the benign prostate hyperplasia). Future growth is as well expected in the fields of aesthetics and urology.
For the remaining business year biolitec expects the positive business development of the previous quarters to accelerate.
Dr. Wolfgang Neuberger, CEO of biolitec AG explains, “The strong increase of laser sales over the last quarters will, in the coming quarters, be the basis for an increasing growth dynamic in disposables, being our main business and most important source of earnings. Laser sales will also develop dynamically – as to be seen e.g. on the AUA (congress of the American Urological Association). The US-market traditionally leads the way and for the trends that will be adopted worldwide with just some delay.”
